Following graduation, Rick began working at Ann Arbor Buick in the service department.  During the next few months he came to realize that this wasn’t what he thought it would be and began researching new options. He enrolled at JCC and completed necessary credits to transfer to EMU, graduating in 1968.  In 1966 he and Barb Burd were married and after Rick’s graduation, they moved to Alexandria Va. to begin Rick’s military obligation at Officer Training.  After a time in Va. they moved to Massachusetts for more training and celebrated the birth of their first child. In the fall of 1969 Rick, Barb and baby daughter, moved back to Ann Arbor and prepared for Rick’s deployment to Vietnam.  Rick served 11 months in an Engineer Unit building roads in Vietnam and returned in Sept. 1970 to begin a teaching job in Romulus and welcome a new baby boy. Rick continued his teaching career at Huron High school, obtained two Masters Degrees and retired from Washtenaw Community College. He’s also worked in several other venues including Cleary University, DSP Technology, Jackson Career Center and Flita Fry.  His love of cars continues and he enjoys restoring cars and showing his 1925 Austin Seven. He and Barb moved from Ann Arbor to rural Manchester in 1991 to build their dream home.
