WASHINGTON CLUB PHOTO MICHIGAN THEATER PHOTOSWhat did you do right after we graduated?
After high school I spent a year at the U of M. I then went to work for
Ma Bell. I married Ron, who I met at a picnic in 1972.
What has been your occupation(s) over the past 50 years? Tell us
about any highlights or cool things that you’ve been a part of.
By 1981 we had moved to Texas for better jobs. Ron died in 1993 of
cancer when our son was a junior in high school. That was a rough
year. My favorite job was as a non-degreed private school teacher.
Later I was hired by Continental Airlines. One of the things I have
appreciated the most is that working for an airline is NEVER boring. If
it's not your company, it's another airline, or the Feds making changes,
doing new things.
Are you retired? If so, what are you doing in retirement?
I have since retired after 23 years with the airline. I became a born
again Christian back in 1975. I can truthfully say that Jesus has carried
me through the hard times and given me peace and joy.He has also
forced me to look at my character flaws (ouch!) and helped me
overcome them. Well, I still have plenty of work to do, but God is
faithful to help me when I am willing to let Him!
How about grandchildren? How many? How old? Where are they?
But wait! What about great grandkids?!!?
The oldest is 7, her sister is 5 and the baby is 5 months old. My
daughter in law is a stay at home mom. My son and daughter in law
met as study buddies at the University of Houston. He sells retirement
plans to companies for The Hartford.
What’s your favorite hobby (or hobbies)?
My favorite hobbies are reading, singing and swimming. I love old time
movies. I have another hobby, too. I love to travel. I have travelled to
Hawaii, Canada, Costa Rica, Spain and Israel. I am taking my first
cruise in October. We will be cruising the Mediterranean, leaving from
Istanbul, making stops in Athens, Ephesus, Haifa and Ashdod. Haifa
and Ashdod are Israeli ports. This makes the third year in a row I have
gone to Israel. I wasn't planning on it but a girl friend tempted me with
great rates and great friends. I was planning to travel to England but
you saw what happened there this year....
Have you had any adventures you’d care to tell us about?
I have done many of the ordinary Christian things: sang in the choir,
taught Sunday School and together with my husband created a
Children's church program which we ran for ten years before he died. I
also taught a program for the children of participants in Celebrate
Recovery (Christian version of AA).
What else would you like us to know about?

I am currently singing in a choral group. we are singing songs from
South Pacific and whaddya know...one of Bob Seger's hits..Give Me
That Old Rock n Roll Music! Who would have ever thought that I would
be singing one of his hits in Texas 40 years later, after growing up
around the corner from him and graduating in the same class?
I am still widowed and living a merry life. I moved from Houston to Katy
TX after I retired. About the same time my third granddaughter was
born. I am so blessed to have son and daughter in law willing to have
more than one child which seems to be the norm nowadays.
Don't wig out, but I do believe Jesus is coming soon. I'm not one to
name the date and the hour, but Jesus did say that when we see wars,
rumors of wars, famine, earthquakes, pestilences (SARS,Asian Flu,
HIV/AIDS etc), we should know the end is coming near. Read Matthew
24:3-31.
The reason I am mentioning this is that it may be a point in your life
where you need to make some decisions about faith in Jesus Christ.
