What did you do right after we graduated?

I majored in sociology at the University of Michigan where I met my

husband, graduating in 1967.

What has been your occupation(s) over the past 50 years? Tell us

about any highlights or cool things that you’ve been a part of.

After college, I moved to Des Moines, Iowa where my husband

attended medical school and I worked for the Girl Scouts as the public

relations director and an advisor to troop leaders for 4 years. We

eventually settled in Tucson, AZ, where we have lived for most of the

last 42 years. I was busy with everything that is involved with raising 3

children, but also worked from home as a bookkeeper for my

husband's solo medical practice.

Where have you lived, and where do you live now?

Ann Arbor, Des Moines, IA, Flint, MI, Seattle, WA, Tucson, AZ.

Are you retired? If so, what are you doing in retirement?

I was able to retire when my husband joined a large medical

corporation 7 years ago, however he is still working full time.

Please tell us about your family, spouse/s, children,

grandchildren, etc.

I've been married for 45 years to Bill, who is an osteopathic family

physician. We have 3 children. Will, a Stanford and Yale graduate, who

is currently a professor in public policy at the University of Texas in

Austin. Brian, a self-taught computer geek, who is a computer game

tester for Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, CA. Jennifer, a Westmont

College and University of Arizona graduate, who teaches high school

Spanish in Tucson, AZ.

What interests/activities do you find most satisfying?

My husband and I travel as often as we can, and I also travel with our

daughter. I swim, bicycle, walk, hike, crochet, sew, read,

scrapbook, and am active in our church.

Did you have experiences in High School that influenced later

choices in your life?

Being active in the Girl Scouts all through high school kindled my love

for the outdoors and camping and led to my first job out of college.

Participating in all of the team sports in high school resulted in my

ability to stay physically active (thanks to 2 total knee replacements)

and to enjoy sports as a spectator. It also greatly influenced me as a

mother, leading my children to be active in many sports.

Do you have any memories from High School that you would like

to share?

I remember traveling on the bus to all of the away football games and

also working in the refreshment stand at home games. I also

remember how crowded the stairwells were and how hard it was to get

to a locker and go from one class to another in 10 minutes.

What else would you like us to know about?

I love watching Michigan football on the Big Ten Network.
