about any highlights or cool things that you’ve been a part of.
Worked at Whirlpool as an appliance design engineer. Later, at
Whirlpool, designed medical and food packaging systems for NASA,
and tested them with astronauts on zero gravity missions. Last job at
Whirlpool was as a marketing analyst. Invested in real estate. Was laid
off in 1974. Sold real estate for a couple of years.
Where have you lived, and where do you live now?
Lived in a trailer during high school. After MSU lived in Benton Harbor,
then moved nearby to Stevensville. Built in Cape Coral, Fl., and were
"snow birds" for about 20 years. Now permanently in the Cape since
2004.
Are you retired? If so, what are you doing in retirement?
Retired in 1982. Now have some rental homes, and a lot of hobbies.
Please tell us about your family, spouse/s, children,
grandchildren, etc.
Eloped with Jan while at U.S.C. in Calif. She was an art teacher in
Benton Harbor. We decided not to have kids, and have cars instead.
They are less worry. We had 11 at one time, and 4 now.
What interests/activities do you find most satisfying?
Interests include horticulture, boating, water skiing volleyball, body
painting, cars, diving for lobsters in the keys, partying, and making
costumes for Fantasy Fest, (check it out. Photos of Jan's costumes are
in books.)
Did you have experiences in High School that influenced later
choices in your life?
I loved this high school, and am proud to have been there with many
good, formative experiences.
Do you have any memories from High School that you would like
to share?
I remember the good times I had with Bill Yearnd, Bob Masur, and gym
teacher Howard Patthoff. I recently saw old buddies Dan Kaercher, and
Fred Sanchez.
What else would you like us to know about?
Made a number of great trips into the wilds of Canada, and a number
of trips to Europe, and the Caribbean. Now we stay busy with hobbies
including a lot of boating. As of this year I have been retired for 30
years, married for 40, and Jan and I have never had an argument. My
life is blessed.
