Went to U of Colorado, met my first husband and we went to Ventura,
CA 1969. Divorced, no children. Met, dated, married my favorite
husband, Gene Kuhlhoff. We moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1989,
he passed away in early 1991. I rebuilt my life in Santa Fe and have
had a great time doing that.
What has been your occupation(s) over the past 50 years? Tell us
about any highlights or cool things that you’ve been a part of.
Did some summertime camp counseling for a few years, retail work for
a few years.
Took a temporary job in a dental office and worked in the field for 25
years. Mostly as a business manager in multi- staffed offices. For the
past 22 years I have docented at a Spanish Colonial Living
Museum,the Palace of the Governors/ State History Museum and the
Santa Fe Opera. I have also been a local tour guide in Northern New
Mexico for 18 years.
Where have you lived, and where do you live now?
Boulder, Colorado
Ventura California
Santa Fe, NM
Are you retired? If so, what are you doing in retirement?
Semi retired, I play golf in the summer time and ski in the winter.
I belong to the Santa Fe Trail Assoc. the Camilo Real Trail Assoc. and
the Old Spanish Trail Association for which I'm the local chapter
president. I love the trails! I also do lots of other volunteer work mostly
in the tourism industry.
Please tell us about your family, spouse/s, children,
grandchildren, etc.
I have 3 step children. 4 grand children, 2 elementary school girls in
Florida and 2 college age basketball players in Texas.
My parents have both passed away and I'm now the matriarch of the
family and it is taking some getting used to the new status. Have a
brother in Oregon and one in California. One niece and one nephew in
Portland, OR.
What interests/activities do you find most satisfying?
I have worked on my family genealogy since the 70's and have found
that a good reason to study history more closely and to travel a lot.
The past 5 years I've developed an interest in the Silk Road and
Chengis Kahn.
Last year I went to Uzbekistan and hope to get to the Camel Fair in
Pushkar India next year and perhaps Mongolia in 2015.
Did you have experiences in High School that influenced later
choices in your life?
I think I developed my love of history in Mr. Peacocks classes.
Do you have any memories from High School that you would like
to share?
So many memories and so many friends, really looking forward to
seeing a bunch of you again.
What else would you like us to know about?
I'm happy with who I am, where I am and what I'm doing.
