What did you do right after we graduated?

After I graduated from Ann Arbor H.S. I went to the U of M and majored

in History and Education.

What has been your occupation(s) over the past 50 years? Tell us

about any highlights or cool things that you’ve been a part of.

After college I taught history at Dexter H.S., and was an assistant

football coach for three years. One year we actually won seven games,

making it the second most successful year ever in football at Dexter.

Then, thanks to Bob Mayfield's dad, who encouraged me to enter the

F.B.I., I joined and went on to work in New York City for twenty-seven

years, along the way I got married, had three kids, and got my masters

and doctorate degrees. After I retired from federal service, I began

teaching at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, I'm

still there, although only for about three more months.

Where have you lived, and where do you live now?

I lived in New York City for twelve years, then moved over to New

Jersey to raise my three kids, I have been divorced for six years, and

live in an apartment in Westchester County, about and hour north of

New York City, and commute into New York City three times a week.

Are you retired? If so, what are you doing in retirement?

Not exactly retired -- maybe semi-retired would be accurate.  See

"interests/activities" below for what I am doing outside the office...

Please tell us about your family, spouse/s, children,

grandchildren, etc.

I have three kids, two girls and one boy, all living in the New York area.

My oldest girl has three wonderful kids.... I guess that makes me a

happy grandad.

What interests/activities do you find most satisfying?

Interesting question..... teaching in front of a classroom full of eager

graduate students is definitely a high..... so is playing at golf and

boating..... and still trying to keep fit..... although impossible.

Did you have experiences in High School that influenced later

choices in your life?

Ann Arbor High provided friends, teachers, opportunities, and the town

environment.... that very few schools in the country could offer. We

were among the very lucky.

Do you have any memories from High School that you would like

to share?

Too many. Thats why we come back to H.S. reunions.... to check if the

memories of our high school experiences are really real or just

exagerations.
